The course is broken into five thirty-minute blocks, each followed by a practical activity designed to embed the skills covered. You can work through the blocks at your own pace, return to any section at any point, and complete the programme in a way that fits around your caseload. On completion, you will receive a certificate of training.

 

The content covers everything a practitioner needs to deliver best practice pre-trial support: the legal and policy framework, what pre-trial therapy is and who it applies to, note-keeping, managing disclosures, working with consent and confidentiality, and responding to requests for records. It is grounded in our national research, Keeping Secrets, and reflects our national best practice standards.

 

The course is suitable for practitioners working across therapy, advocacy, social care, health, police and the criminal justice system, whatever the offence type. It works equally well as a first introduction to pre-trial support or as a refresher for experienced practitioners.
